Last month saw one of the highlights of the year for bingo fans when National Bingo Week 2025 took place from Monday, 23rd June to Sunday, 29th June. It was the fifth year of the UK-wide celebration, and what began as National Bingo Day has grown into a full seven-day event, bringing together bingo clubs, operators, and players across Great Britain. Clubs and online bingo sites marked it with special tournaments, giveaways, and promotions.
Led by The Bingo Association, the event aimed to bring bingo’s social value to the fore while offering players of all ages a chance to enjoy exclusive games, community activities, and special prizes. This year’s theme was “bingo as a generation game,” with a focus on the role bingo plays in bringing people of all ages together.
Speaking ahead of the event, Miles Baron, Chief Executive at The Bingo Association, said:
“We’re delighted to be launching this year’s National Bingo Week. Following the success of previous years, we’ve extended this to be a full Week not just a Day. We’re hugely proud to combine as an industry with all operators coming together to champion the love of the bingo.
We continue to see the impact bingo makes in communities up and down the country, and this year’s campaign theme of ‘the generation game’ tells that story. Bingo is a place for everyone, it offers a space for people to connect with others. We are looking forward to welcoming our customers, new and old, to celebrate the fun, sociability and value of a day or night out at the bingo.”
Throughout the week, venues across the UK hosted a variety of special events and promotions. On Wednesday, 25th June, the focus was on value, with discounted games at participating clubs. Many offered half-price bingo, money off tickets, and, in some cases, a complimentary cup of tea.
Friday, 27th June, was dedicated to charity. Clubs hosted a special Charity Game in aid of Variety, The Children’s Charity, with MPs invited to act as guest callers. The industry hoped to raise over £20,000 during this single event and contribute to the total of more than £2 million raised for Variety since 2015.
Sunday evening brought the grand finale: a guaranteed £100,000 National Bingo Game prize pot shared across participating clubs. The game itself is run by the National Bingo Game Association, which is licensed and regulated by the Gambling Commission under account number 2717, ensuring all standards were upheld throughout the event.
Central to the theme of National Bingo Week 2025 was the idea of intergenerational disconnect and what can be done to combat it. Research commissioned by The Bingo Association found a growing gap between generations and believes that bingo is a simple, accessible way to bridge that divide. The campaign was supported by social media influencers and media personalities, who visited clubs to talk about their experiences and encourage others to take part.
For those unable to attend in person, the week’s celebrations extended online. A national social media competition invited players to share selfies with their “bingo buddy” while visiting clubs, with four holiday vouchers worth £1,000 each up for grabs.
Both large and small operators participated in promoting the week, with brands such as Mecca, Buzz, Gala, and Heart Bingo running special promotions. From free tickets and bonus spins to celebrity guest appearances, there wasn’t a dull moment.
National Bingo Week grew from National Bingo Day. The change from a single day to a week-long event began in 2021 after both players and operators said that one day wasn’t enough. National Bingo Day itself, held each year on 27th June, remains the highlight of the week. While this year’s festivities may have come to an end, bingo fans can look forward to next year’s event, with organisers already considering how to make National Bingo Week 2026 even bigger and better.
