The bingo scene in Leeds recently received a major boost with the opening of a brand-new, purpose-built hall by the UK’s largest independent bingo operator. Club 3000 Bingo opened а new venue in Hunslet on Saturday, 23rd August 2025, and welcomed more than 850 guests for a night of celebrations, entertainment, and games. The £5.5 million development is the 25th club in the group’s growing portfolio and brings a modern, stylish new place to enjoy bingo to the heart of West Yorkshire, for a change from playing at bingo sites.
Guests at the launch were greeted with bubbly on arrival before enjoying an evening packed with live music, thrilling bingo games, and a party atmosphere. For many, the highlight of the night came when Leeds-born actor Jack P. Shepherd, best known for his role in Coronation Street and winner of Celebrity Big Brother, officially cut the ribbon to open the club.
Shepherd spoke warmly about returning to his hometown to launch the new venue:
“Being born and raised in Leeds, I felt truly honoured to open Club 3000 Bingo in my hometown on Saturday. The new venue is incredible and was filled to the brim-it was a fantastic evening with an electric atmosphere, and I was given the warmest welcome. Some of my family joined me as well, and they absolutely loved both the entertainment and, of course, playing bingo!”
Guests also had the chance to enjoy one of the new club’s most unusual features: the first-ever ice cream van inside a bingo hall. It proved a hit on the night and is an excellent example of the way that Club 3000 finds new ways to bring together tradition with fun, family-friendly innovation.
The new Hunslet bingo venue is part of Club 3000’s broader strategy of creating modern, purpose-built venues designed to provide the best possible customer experience. Unlike the converted cinemas that once housed bingo halls across the country, this flat-floor development provides players with a comfortable, stylish, and flexible space that caters to all ages.
Club owner Brian Fraser expressed his pride in the project:
“We are absolutely delighted to open our newest club here in Leeds. This stunning venue shows our commitment to bringing bingo into the modern age, and the incredible turnout tonight made it all the more unforgettable.”
General Manager Sam Cliffe echoed the excitement, adding:
“What an incredible night! The energy in the room was fantastic, and it was wonderful to see so many people celebrating with us. A huge thank you to everyone who came along and to my amazing team – we can’t wait to welcome even more guests in the coming weeks.”
The Hunslet venue is the latest in a string of major investments by Club 3000. The operator has recently opened a new club in Blackpool, completed a £6 million rebuild in Edinburgh, and added new clubs in Doncaster and Mansfield.
Founded in 2006 by Brian Fraser, Club 3000 has grown from a single site to 25 clubs across England, Scotland, and Wales, making it the UK’s largest independent operator and the third-largest bingo chain overall. The business remains family-run and prides itself on providing a welcoming, first-class bingo experience.
Alongside traditional paper tickets, the clubs offer electronic play through their Bingo Bees system. Each venue also includes fully licensed bars and a selection of hot and cold food, so a visit can become a complete social outing.
The new venue is running afternoon and evening sessions every day of the week, and we are sure to hear about the first big winners in the very near future.
