Tracey Evans couldn’t have imagined a better way to celebrate her 60th birthday than by walking away with a life-changing £20,000 full house prize at Mecca Bingo Crewe. Even more incredible, the life-changing win came from a ticket that cost just 10p.
Tracey had chosen to spend the evening of September 5 celebrating her birthday at the Mecca Bingo club on Dunwoody Way in Crewe, together with her sister and father. The night kicked off on a high note when her sister landed a couple of early wins, but this turned out to be small fry compared to what was to come.

Things really became exciting during Mecca’s special Mega Money Live game, which is a cross-channel session that allows in-person and online players to compete in a single massive game. As the game progressed, Tracey casually mentioned to her sister that she was just one number away from calling a full house, completely unaware that she was moments away from hitting the £20,000 jackpot prize.
She had been playing on one of Mecca’s digital tablets and was so stunned when her final number was called that it was her sister who had to notify the Mecca staff about the win. With everyone already aware it was her birthday, the club in Crewe erupted in celebration when the jackpot was confirmed.
Speaking afterwards, Tracey said that she believes something more meaningful was at play:
“I couldn’t believe it – it was all such a blur. My mum passed away last year, and I looked up and thought, ‘Thank you for my birthday present, mum’.”
Bingo has long been a cherished family activity for Tracey and her sister, who often take their father along to spend some quality time together.
“We take him along now and then – it’s such a lovely way to spend time together. So, we thought, why not go for my birthday? Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I’d walk out with the full house prize!”
And although Tracey was the one holding the lucky ticket this time, she and her sister have always shared any winnings.
“My sister and I have always shared our winnings – though we’ve never won this big and she’s usually the lucky one! This time it was my turn! Of course, I’ll be splitting the prize money with her, and as for my share… I’ve just been spoiled and pampered for my 60th, so I’ve no idea how I’ll spend it yet!”
Louise Bailey, duty manager, spoke about the incredible energy that evening, when the prize at Mecca Bingo Crewe was hit.
“The atmosphere in the club was electric. We’d already announced that it was Tracey’s birthday, so when her numbers came in and she landed the full house, there was a second wave of celebrations, and the whole place erupted.
She was in complete shock – I don’t think it sank in at first just how much she’d actually won! The Mega Money Live game was being called live from our Hull club, but the big win came home to Crewe – and we couldn’t have been more thrilled to celebrate it with her!”
