Following an extensive refurbishment, the Osborne Street club in Colchester has unveiled its new look as part of a major makeover by Buzz Bingo.
The Buzz Bingo Colchester changes include an updated lounge area, new décor and a brand-new pub-style bar. There is also a mural featuring local landmarks, giving the club a distinctly Colchester feel.
One of the biggest changes is the club’s updated lounge, which has been given a much fresher and more modern look. Buzz describes it as a space where members can “dab & gab” with friends, and the idea is clearly to give players somewhere comfortable to spend time before, after or between bingo sessions.
There is also a new mural wall featuring landmarks from around Colchester, bringing a bit of local character to the club. Perhaps the most noticeable addition, though, is the new bar. It has officially been named The King’s Horses and has been designed to create more of a traditional pub-style atmosphere within the bingo club.
Julie Hawley, general manager at Buzz Bingo Colchester, said:
“The club has undergone an amazing transformation, and we’re so excited to share our new look with both familiar faces and new members. Our new bar ‘The King’s Horses’ is a very welcome addition to the club, and we know our customers will love the stylish new feel of the whole club. The response to the revamped décor and our lounge area so far has been amazing. It’s the bingo we all know and love but with added sparkle!”
“This is a place for the Colchester community, and we can’t wait to create new winning memories in our beautiful new club, starting with our Grand Reveal Party. It’s going to be incredible.”
Buzz Bingo marked the new-look club with a Grand Reveal event on Saturday 19 September. There were 10 chances to win £500 during the evening, giving players the opportunity to pick up some sizeable cash prizes while checking out the refurbished venue.
There was also live music and entertainment throughout the night, along with free goodies and other surprises. The event gave regular players their first proper look at the completed refurbishment, while also giving anyone who had not visited the club before a good excuse to see what had changed.
The work in Colchester is part of a much wider programme of investment from Buzz Bingo. The operator says it plans to spend £25 million on its venues over the next few years, with a focus on updating clubs and giving players more than just the traditional bingo experience.
Stevie Shaves, chief operating officer at Buzz Bingo, said:
“This transformation of our Colchester club underscores Buzz Bingo’s commitment to providing the best bingo and entertainment experiences in the world, and we’re investing £25m into our venues over the next few years. Bingo is a beloved British pastime, and we’re seeing a fantastic comeback, particularly with the Gen Z crowd, who are discovering it as a popular, great-value night out. Buzz Bingo is leading that revival by blending the classic elements everyone loves with modern features like our immersive bingo experiences, retro-inspired lounges and locally themed decor. We encourage everyone to come down and see the new club – it truly is back and better than ever.”
The Colchester refurbishment follows a similar approach to changes Buzz has been making at other clubs, with more attention being paid to lounge areas, entertainment and the overall look of each venue.
While the club has had a fairly substantial makeover, Buzz has not moved away from what players actually visit for.
Bingo remains at the heart of the venue, but the new lounge, bar and entertainment areas give people more to do while they are there. The locally themed mural is also a nice touch and helps stop the refurbished club from feeling too generic. So, if you’re a bingo player in the area, be sure to visit the Buzz Bingo revamped Colchester venue and make the most of all it has to offer.
