Listen to this article:There are many different ways of celebrating a big win and one player from Paisley, in Glasgow, Scotland, recently marked the moment of winning bingo jackpot with a cup of tea.
The lucky player took home a jackpot of £125,000 from a special National Bingo Game at the end of April while playing at the Mecca Bingo Club on Saucel Crescent. While the winner has asked to remain anonymous, she is known to be a regular player at the club with her family.
The caller on the night, Connor Wilson, said that everyone began cheering when he announced the results over the microphone.
“The winner shouted house and initially thought she’d won £1,000, which she was really pleased with. When we verified her win and clarified that she’d actually won £125,000 she started shaking and burst into tears with shock. I offered her a bottle of bubbly to celebrate but she just wanted a cup of tea!”
Connor, who will be leaving his job this summer and beginning a new career in teaching, added that it was “wonderful” to give away such an enormous prize to a regular player before he leaves.
The general manager at Mecca, Paisley Glasgow, Grant Munro, added:
“We’re always thrilled for our winners but to scoop £125,000 on the National Bingo Game jackpot is a real cause for celebration – with whichever tipple you prefer.”
The £125,000 National Bingo Game jackpot win took place on Sunday, 28 April and there was a total of £250,000 in jackpots up for grabs. While there has not yet been anything published in the news, according to their official website, the remaining £125,000 prize money was won by a player at the Club 3000 Bingo in Cardiff.
The Cardiff club recently underwent a £3 million renovation that was completed at the start of April. The renovation brought in new carpets, 1400 seats, tables and a comprehensive redecoration. Furthermore, there is also a new enclosed Bar and Diner, revamped book sales, and an upgraded slot machine area.
On the same night as the jackpot was won, the venue held a re-launch party. In addition to the National Bingo Game jackpot, attendees also had the chance to play for four £3,000 full house prizes.
Speaking ahead of the event, Stephen Pidgeon, Head of Operations at the club, said that the revamp will allow them to provide a top-quality experience:
