In good news for bingo players in Essex, Buzz Bingo Basildon has reopened following a major refurbishment.
The Southernhay club marked its return with a relaunch event that included a special weekend of bingo, entertainment and prize giveaways, giving players an opportunity to explore the updated lounge area and new décor while playing for big prizes.
Buzz Bingo has committed to investing £25 million into its venues over the coming years.
For many players, bingo is all about the sense of community the game fosters, and to celebrate this, the refurbished club features a mural wall of local landmarks and a new bar called “The New Town Tap”.
Talking about the refurbishment, Chris Perkin, the General Manager at Buzz Bingo Basildon, said:
“The club has undergone an amazing transformation, and we’re so excited to share our new look with both familiar faces and new members. Our new bar, ‘The New Town Tap’, is a very welcome addition to the club, and we know our customers will love the stylish new feel of the whole club. The response to the revamped décor and our lounge area so far has been amazing. It’s the bingo we all know and love, but with added sparkle! This is a place for the Basildon community, and we can’t wait to create new winning memories in our beautiful new club, starting with over £26,500 to be won over the weekend. It’s going to be incredible.”
To celebrate the reopening, the club hosted a special weekend of bingo, entertainment, and prizes totalling more than £26,500. Visitors had the chance to take part in games with extra-large prizes, including thirteen full house prizes of £1,000 and twenty-seven games with prizes of £500.
There was also live entertainment and plenty of freebies for locals to enjoy.
Sarah Calakovic, the Regional Manager for Buzz Bingo, said:
“The energy in the club this weekend was absolutely electric! Seeing the community’s reaction to the complete transformation of the club was a huge thrill for the entire team.
Seeing their reaction to the surprise “Dancing Queen” flash mob was something else! From the moment we opened the doors, the enthusiasm from our members was incredible, and watching everyone explore the new bingo experience really highlighted how this club serves as a vital hub for the Basildon community.
The New Town Tap and our stylish new lounge area were personal highlights for me. It’s still the bingo we all know and love, but elevated for a fantastic night out.
Between the live music from local Basildon legend Tony Roberts, the non-stop entertainment, impromptu dancing and the buzz of the crowd, it was the perfect way to debut our new look to our valued customers.
“We were especially thrilled to give out over £26,500 in prize money across the weekend.”
Several of Buzz Bingo’s clubs are due to undergo similar upgrades, such as the one in Essex.
As Stevie Shaves, the Chief Operating Officer at Buzz Bingo, explained:
“Bingo is a beloved British pastime, and we’re seeing a fantastic comeback, particularly with the Gen Z crowd, who are discovering it as a popular, great-value night out. Buzz Bingo is leading that revival by blending the classic elements everyone loves with modern features like our immersive bingo experiences, retro-inspired lounges and locally themed decor. We encourage everyone to come down and see the new club – it truly is back and better than ever.”
Recent years have seen a huge increase in land bingo players across the UK, and with Buzz Bingo Basildon reopening and the modernisation of other venues, it is a trend that looks set to continue.
