A new café, bar and entertainment venue is preparing to open its doors in Nantwich this November, and it will be running Party Bingo nights and a special loyalty discount for local residents. The former Costa Coffee building on Church Lane is where Nantwich Immerse will open, offering everything from live music and comedy to bingo nights and quizzes. The venue is being launched by local residents Rob Agnew and Matt Owen and is expected to create up to 20 full- and part-time jobs.
For bingo players, the main attraction is sure to be Party Bingo, with six Saturday night events planned each year. While online bingo sites offer a convenient way to enjoy the game from home, Nantwich Immerse will bring a more sociable, in-person experience, combining bingo with entertainment and a lively atmosphere. The first is already scheduled for Saturday 21 November.
Immerse is hoping to bring something different to Nantwich’s nightlife by combining a daytime café with an evening bar and entertainment venue. The business is being launched by Rob Agnew, who previously worked as managing director of the popular Bongo’s Bingo brand, and Matt Owen. Given Rob’s background, it is perhaps no surprise that bingo will feature in the entertainment schedule.
The first Party Bingo night is scheduled for 21 November, shortly after the venue is expected to open. There is no detailed programme for the evening published just yet, but with Rob’s experience at Bongo’s Bingo, it will certainly be interesting to see what the new venue has planned.
Another interesting part of the new venture is its loyalty scheme, which will be available to residents of Cheshire living within the CW5 postcode area. Local residents will be able to claim a loyalty card giving them 15% off all purchases at Immerse, including food, hot drinks and alcoholic drinks. The discount will be available from the venue’s opening day and is intended to encourage local people to become regular customers.
Rob explained:
“We believe creating an “Immersive” environment in a destination venue will really appeal to the people of Nantwich. We plan to take it one step further and reach out to local people through effective social media use and offer a “CW5” loyalty discount from day one. A 15% loyalty card is budgeted to ensure customers seek us out and come back time after time. We have chosen this space as it fits the intimacy planned – but can also be utilised as a café during the day, a wine bar in the evening and an events space every Saturday night. Our event concepts are already in place and ready to roll out into our new Nantwich home.”
The café will operate from 8am to 6pm, while the wine bar will open from 3pm until 10pm. Entertainment events are planned between 6pm and 10pm. The venue’s landlords reportedly received several offers for the former Costa Coffee building, including proposals for an Indian restaurant and a nail salon, before agreeing a deal with Immerse.
However, not everyone is entirely happy about the arrival of a new entertainment venue on Church Lane. Four residents of Chatterton House, which has apartments above Immerse, attended a recent Nantwich Town Council meeting to raise concerns about possible noise and disturbance. Rob has since written to all 21 apartments in the building, offering to discuss the plans and reassure residents, saying: “The last thing we want to do is annoy or anger the local residents. We want to engage with them to reassure them.”
The owners say there is already soundproofing between the different levels of the building. The venue will also use a directional sound system and decibel monitoring to ensure noise does not exceed 60 decibels. Another measure is the proposed dispersal policy, which will see licensed hours end at 10pm while allowing customers an additional hour to finish their drinks and leave gradually.
Rob explained:
“We don’t want to pour over 100 people into the street all at the same time, and we know the police are happy with this policy. In terms of noise, the church bells next door will make louder noise! We have attempted to engage with neighbours, and we have had positive feedback and conditions from Cheshire East’s licensing team.”
With the opening of Nantwich Immerse now just a few days away, it will not be long before residents can see what it has to offer and start looking forward to the first Party Bingo night later this month.
