We always say it’s possible to win big money playing on online bingo sites, but Buzz Bingo Cricklewood recently proved there’s just as much opportunity to strike it lucky at a bingo club tоo. On Mother’s Day, which was Sunday, 30 March, a player at the club won a life-changing £105K and in doing so, set a new Guinness World Record.
The win took place during Buzz Bingo Colossus event, which drew a huge crowd, with over 2,000 players turning up for their shot at the prize money.
Those lucky enough to attend the event described the atmosphere as “electric”. There was certainly a great deal of anticipation surrounding the Colossus event, with the bingo operator having published that it was hoping to break its own World Record.
Steve Young, General Manager at Buzz Bingo Cricklewood, spoke about the excitement of the night:
“We are absolutely thrilled for our customer who has won this world record-breaking prize at our Cricklewood venue on Mother’s Day. The atmosphere on the night was euphoric, with huge celebrations and excitement from the crowd – the roar when the prizes were claimed was electrifying and is one of the most dramatic false calls I’ve ever witnessed! We are delighted to have created such a memorable night, giving away over £250,000 in total in a single night of bingo.
This win captures the magic and excitement of playing bingo together. We look forward to continuing to provide our community with exciting and memorable experiences like we did on Mother’s Day.”
Making things even more exciting was a certain amount of unexpected drama. The final full house initially saw a false claim, with an unlucky player briefly believing that they had won the record-breaking bingo prize. However, in the end, the spoils went to a 40-year-old regular at the club who correctly called “house” and, in doing so, set off confetti cannons, cheers, and huge celebrations with a dedicated team rushing to verify and confirm the monumental win.
The official confirmation of the World Record for the largest bingo payout came from Guinness World Records adjudicator Joanne Brent, who was present to witness the event:
“I am thrilled to confirm that Buzz Bingo Cricklewood awarded an incredible £105,000 to one lucky winner at their Colossus event, setting a new record for the largest payout for a game of bingo at a single bingo house. This remarkable achievement showcases their dedication to delivering exceptional experiences and continually pushing new boundaries for their community.
The entire event was delivered with an abundance of professionalism and enthusiasm. My sincere congratulations to the team at Buzz Bingo for once again claiming a Guinness World Records™ title.”
While there will have been many disappointed not to have won the prize, there was plenty more for players to enjoy. The event had a fantastic carnival atmosphere. Buzz Bingo Cricklewood went all out and transformed the venue into a dazzling spectacle filled with magicians, acrobats, balloon artists, caricaturists, and showgirls.
In total, the Colossus event awarded over £250,000 in prizes, including three additional full-house wins of £25,000 each, which made the evening one of the most lucrative nights ever held in a UK bingo club.
For those hoping to enter the record books, Steve Young promised that the club will be holding similar events in the future, “We look forward to continuing to provide our community with exciting and memorable experiences like we did on Mother’s Day.” So, if you live in the Cricklewood area, or near any other major bingo club, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for future opportunities.
