World Gaming has announced a new partnership with the African iGaming Alliance (AiA) to launch an Africa-focused summit at iGB L!VE London.

The first major project from the new partnership will be the iGB L!VE Africa Summit, which will take place on 1 July at ExCeL London. The one-day event aims to bring together African regulators, international bingo sites representatives, suppliers and other industry figures to discuss market development, regulation, investment and expansion across the continent.

SmartSoft Gaming will sponsor the summit and will focus on the commercial and regulatory issues facing operators that are either already active in Africa or looking to launch there.

A New Partnership for African Gaming

The African iGaming Alliance represents licensed betting and gaming operators across the continent. It works with regulators and authorities on areas such as responsible gambling, taxation and enforcement against unlicensed sites. Its members are licensed in 20 African countries, which means the organisation has a vital role in a market that is made up of many different jurisdictions and regulatory systems.

It is hoped that the partnership with World Gaming will aid the development of sustainable and well-regulated gaming markets across Africa.

The former Botswana gambling regulator and CEO of the African iGaming Alliance, Peter Emolemo Kesitilwe, explained:

“Africa is one of the most dynamic and strategically important regions in global gaming. Through our partnership with WorldGaming, we want to ensure African regulators, policymakers and industry leaders are not just part of the global conversation, but helping to shape it.

The Africa Summit at iGB L!VE will be the first expression of that partnership, creating a platform for practical collaboration, knowledge exchange and sustainable market growth.”

Regulation, Tax and Market Entry on the Agenda

The agenda for the Africa Summit will cover a broad range of issues that are likely to be relevant for anyone operating in Africa.

These include regulatory cooperation, responsible gaming, player protection, taxation, anti-money laundering, know-your-customer checks, mobile money, payments, player acquisition and adapting global products for local audiences. There will also be region-specific roundtables focused on West, East and Southern Africa.

The event programme includes sessions on the future of taxation and channelisation, the practicalities of mobile money and KYC, player acquisition in mobile-first markets, and the local considerations involved in bringing global gaming products into African jurisdictions. There will also be discussions about sports betting, which remains a major part of the gambling market in many African countries.

World Gaming Looks to Support Market Entry

Stuart Hunter, managing director of World Gaming, said the partnership reflects the company’s wider interest in helping operators and suppliers understand high-growth markets.

“We are delighted to be working with the African iGaming Alliance to launch the Africa Summit at iGB L!VE.

Africa represents one of the most important growth opportunities in global gaming, but success depends on market knowledge, regulatory understanding and trusted local engagement. The Summit has been created to give delegates exactly that.”

World Gaming has positioned the event as an opportunity for international businesses to gain a better understanding of African gaming markets. That means a deeper insight than that gained by looking at headline growth figures. Incidentally, according to H2 Gambling Capital, Africa is expected to generate gaming revenue of $20.27 billion in 2026.

iGB L!VE Adds Africa Summit to Its July Programme

The Africa Summit will form part of iGB L!VE London, which takes place at ExCeL London on 1 and 2 July.

Access to the summit is separate from a standard event pass, with places limited due to the involvement of regulators and senior industry figures. The organisers say the iGB L!VE Africa Summit event is aimed at senior operators, expansion teams, suppliers, investors, policymakers and other stakeholders interested in opportunities across Sub-Saharan Africa.
