The lucky run included two £50,000 National Bingo Game jackpot wins, with one prize won at Mecca Bingo Glasgow Forge on 3 June and another won at Mecca Bingo Paisley on 8 June. A third big win during the same five-day period took the total prize money to £148,000.
All three Glasgow bingo winners have chosen to remain anonymous. Winning a £50,000 jackpot is a huge result on its own, so for three major wins to land in the same area within such a short space of time is almost unheard of.
The National Bingo Game wins were both £50,000; one came at Mecca Bingo Glasgow Forge on 3 June, and the other at Mecca Bingo Paisley on 8 June.
The National Bingo Game is played at participating clubs across the UK, and players can win different jackpot amounts depending on how quickly they complete a full house. The £50,000 prize is awarded when a player calls house within 16 numbers or fewer.
That is exactly what happened at the Glasgow Forge and Paisley clubs, giving both winners a huge prize and adding to what has already been a very lucky year for Mecca Bingo players in the area. Because the winners’ identities have not been revealed, there is not much personal detail to go on. However, this is often the case with large prizes, as players prefer to enjoy their win away from the spotlight.
The two National Bingo Game wins accounted for £100,000 of the total, while the third win was £48,000 from Mecca’s Big Bonus Game at Mecca Glasgow Quay.
The result has been described as a hat-trick of wins for Mecca clubs in Glasgow and Paisley. Three big prizes in five days is seriously impressive, even if they are geographically spread out, but it is especially notable when they come from clubs in the same part of the country.
It also continues an impressive run of results for Glasgow players. Earlier this year, a regular player at Mecca Bingo Glasgow Forge won £50,000 after calling house within 16 numbers on the National Bingo Game. That win took place on 16 April, so the Forge club has now seen two £50,000 National Bingo Game jackpots in less than two months.
Lynsey Pitts, the regional manager at Mecca Bingo, said: “We’re always thrilled for our winners, but to see three big jackpots in just five days is a real cause for celebration.”
The caller during the big win at Mecca Paisley, Caleb Haskins, said:
“I heard the winner shout to make her claim, and she was so happy, thinking that she’d won the club prize of £101. When I told her that she’d actually won £50,101, she was so shocked and became quite emotional. She regularly comes down to meet her friends, and the other customers had realised the size of the win before she had. Everyone was congratulating her and so happy for her.
“I’ve been working here for 18 months, and I’ve already earned the nickname ‘the Jackpot King’ because the jackpots always seem to drop when I’m on the mic. It’s nice to be known as someone who gives away money, and this is the biggest prize I’ve announced. I just love the excitement of a big win and giving our customers good news.”
The three Glasgow bingo winners have certainly given local players plenty to celebrate. It is thought that the winner in Paisley will be using the money to go on holiday.
