A woman from Weymouth hit the National Bingo Game; the bingo jackpot won worth £50,000. It happened when playing at her local bingo hall earlier this month.

The woman, who has asked to remain anonymous, was playing at Leo Leisure in Crescent Street Weymouth, when she won the prize on Monday, March 11th. She hit the jackpot by calling ‘House’ on the 16th number, securing the top prize.

Speaking about the win, Billy Gerrie, the manager of Leo Leisure Weymouth, said:

“The winner was one of our regular players, she has been coming here and playing bingo for over ten years. Myself and some of the staff were having jokes with her beforehand about that exact game, saying that one day she will win the £50k jackpot. It was a massive shock for her and for all of us and I doubt she has got over it yet. I have worked here on and off since 2010, when it was Buzz Bingo and Gala Bingo previously. It is the first time in over ten years I can ever remember the national jackpot being won.”

We recently shared another story of a bingo fan winning £50k jackpot at Mecca Bingo Club, so it turns out that such wins are not as uncommon as you might think.

Win Draws Newcomers to Bingo

According to Gerrie, once news of the huge bingo jackpot win at Leo Leisure broke, there was an immediate increase in the number of people coming to play and try their luck. The venue advertised the win on Facebook on Monday afternoon and Gerrie said that there was a noticeably larger crowd at that day’s evening session.

The venue hosts two sessions each day with the national jackpot available in both sessions. There are also in-house prizes up for grabs that range from £30 all the way up to £500.

Visitors to Leo Leisure will find that there is much more to enjoy. For instance, on Sunday evenings there are books from just £15 with up to eight £100 prizes, two £200 prizes, and the last game of the day offers £500. Furthermore, the venue gives a free roast lunch to all players! It is also worth visiting on Tuesdays when there are both free bingo tickets available and the chance to take part in special link games.

A Family Run Bingo Club

Leo Leisure runs a number of venues, including in Eastleigh, Ryde, Eastbourne and Southampton. It is one of the UK’s few remaining family-owned bingo operators and was established in 1985 by Peter Brown and his wife, Janice. The couple brought their experience working as managers for Ladbroke Bingo, and they began by purchasing the Shaftesbury Bingo Club in Portsmouth from Mecca Bingo. Leo Leisure was then born when the couple opened a second club in Eastleigh in 1994.

The next expansion came in 2007 when the company took over the bingo club in Ryde and its adjoining Commodore Cinema, which is now managed by one of their sons, Duncan Brown. Their elder son is in charge of Leo Leisure, and he added a bingo club in Eastbourne together with Leo’s Play Den, a soft play centre, in 2012.

Weymouth is the most recent addition to Leo Leisure and it made the company the largest independent bingo operator on the south coast.

Leo Leisure Goes Online

You don’t have to be based around the south coast to enjoy all that Leo Leisure has to offer. The operator also runs an online bingo website and it greets new members with a fantastic welcome offer. Simply deposit £20 to receive a 100% bingo bonus.

The website is home to several bingo rooms offering 90-ball and 75-ball games with the chance to win cash prizes, jackpots, and free spins on top slots. Speaking of slots, the site has an enormous collection with themes to cater to every taste.

It is clear that whether visiting a Leo Leisure land bingo hall or joining one of the online games, this family-run operator is dedicated to giving its players plenty of truly enjoyable opportunities to win.
